Osmote 2014 Seneca Lake Chardonnay

Osmote 2014 Seneca Lake Chardonnay

Expressive from the glass with stone fruit and tropical
aroma. Hints of lychee, white flowers, and peach.
Flavors are rich and satisfying with a creaminess that
pairs to fresh acidity.

Hand harvested October 12, 2014 and whole cluster
pressed. No enzymes added or cold settling, so the
fermentation proceeds with natural vineyard yeast.
Barrel fermented in 400L and 500L large format barrels
with weekly lees stirring for the first 100 days. No
malolactic fermentation. Barrel aged for 10 months and
bottled on June 5, 2015

Carved by a glacier, Seneca Lake is the largest,
deepest Finger Lake and the crown jewel of New York
State’s premier cool climate region. Here viticulture
exists on the edge of possibility. Even though winter
lows are often sub-zero across upstate New York, this
lake over 600ft deep never freezes and the warmth of
the water keeps the vines alive through the frozen
months. Vines thrive in sedimentary soils set on the
steep shale stone slopes banks of the lake.
